Officials Training
We are always looking for Swim Team Parents to be educated on legal strokes and meet officiating. If you have the time and you want to earn some volunteer hours before the season even starts please consider attending one of the official training dates. To receive credit hours you must attend the training, take the test, and send your confirmation to our officials coordinator Ganesh Thadkamalla at [email protected] /703 201 1948

2023 Season DATES AND TIMES FOR STROKE & TURN, STARTER and REFEREE CLINICS

Stroke and Turn Judge: Stroke and Turn Judges observe the swimmers after the start and reports any violations of a swimmers stroke, turn or finish according to the rules for the Old Dominion Swim League. Violations are recorded on DQ slips and the meet runner brings them to the Referee for review.

Starter: This official is in charge of signaling the beginning of a race and ensuring that all swimmers have a fair takeoff. Also makes all necessary announcements and introduces the start of the meet.

June 1st (In-Person at Brambleton Library @ 7pm-8pm)
Referee: The head official at a swim meet. This position has final say on all administrative decisions and is responsible for the safety of the swimmers during the meet.
