Swimmer Volunteer Descriptions
The Torpedoes provides swimmers various ways to volunteer for the team. Swimmers will sign-up with the Swim Operations Coordinator and their hours will be tracked. At the end of the season, they will receive a document verifying the amount of hours they volunteered for the team. These hours can be used for self-fulfillment or for community service requirements for school or an organization.

CREW
Swimmers who are rising freshmen and older are eligible to volunteer as crew members. The crew is responsible for setting up the pool before meets as well as putting the pool back together for community use after practices and meets. Although there is no minimum time requirement, the recommendation is to help twice a week after practice as well as at one meet a week (approximately 2 hours a week). The Crew will receive training before the first meet.
JUNIOR COACH
Swimmers who are rising freshmen and older are eligible to volunteer as Junior Coaches. Junior Coaches will help by assisting in the water during the 8 and under/mini/rookie practice. Although there is no minimum time requirement, the recommendation is to help twice a week (approximately 2 hours a week). Unlike in the past, they will not be responsible for setting up the pool for meets and practices. If they would like to do that as well, they may also volunteer to be part of the crew. Junior Coaches will have to participate in a training session before they can help during practice.
PRACTICE POOL PREP
Swimmers who are 12-years-old and attending the 9-12 practice are eligible to volunteer in the Practice Pool Prep group. These volunteers will be responsible for setting up the pool before the first practice by putting lanelines in the pool, putting up backstroke flags, and setting out the proper equipment. Although there is no minimum time requirement, the recommendation is to help twice a week (approximately 40 minutes a week). Swimmers volunteering in the Practice Pool Prep group will receive training in how to set up the pool.
